INTERVIEW

INTERVIEW 3

INTERVIEW 3 What about SEO?

If I had 100 million, SEO would be worth it."

Fubuki was founded more than 20 years ago in 1999. Since its establishment, "website development" has been the mainstay of our business. Since the dawn of the Internet, Fubuki has been dealing with "companies," "websites," and "branding," and we approach PR and website production with a philosophy of "what we think, what we do, and what we want to do.

We interviewed Mr. Kadokawa, the president of Fubuki, about what we think and Fubuki's "philosophy.

How did people stop searching?

--INTERVIEW2 "I didn't think people would stop searching so soon," he said. Looking back on myself, I certainly feel that I do not search as much as I used to.

I used to think that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) know-how was a way to make a living for the rest of my life. Back when Google was just starting out, I would set up a new domain name and try my best to rank first forbig keywords (keywords with high search volume) within a week or so.

But as they realized that they were not being searched for, they wanted to deliver other value to their customers rather than focusing on that.

 --Why don't people search anymore?

I think social networking is a big factor. People spend more and more time on SNS in their daily lives, and they don't put as much effort into "searching for information.
Also, if you have a problem or want to know something, you can post it on a SNS and someone will tell you, so there is no need to search. And in the hiring process, you can just ask, "Is anyone good? and you can find a good person.

Above all, social networking sites that connect you to people you know have a higher probability of finding people and information you can trust than a search. In other words, the purity of information is higher.

What kind of companies does SEO work for?

Just because people "don't search anymore" doesn't negate SEO per se.

--Fubuki, you don't put forth SEO too aggressively in your proposals. What is the reason for that?

If there is a case in which SEO is effective, of course we will make a proposal. However, many of Fubuki's recent clients have "great technology in a niche field" or are "famous in a certain field. In other words, they are one-of-a-kind companies and do not need to be searched for. It means there is not much point in spending money to do so.

Also, there are a lot of venture companies with technology and strengths, or companies that are not yet at the scale of spending money on SEO to increase sales. In other words, BtoB companies with limited budgets have no choice but to reject SEO itself when they think about creating a website.

However, Fubuki likes working with such companies and would like to continue to do so. It would be great to work with companies that have good products but are having trouble getting them to where they need to go, and to see results, wouldn't it?

--What kind of cases are worth doing SEO for?

For example, if a company has a certain degree of name value and can spend 100 million yen or an inexhaustible amount of money, then it makes sense to do it (laughs).
If there is a lot of competition in the BtoB market, SEO will be effective.

Also, I have a feeling that SEO is for BtoC. However, the current web advertisements for BtoC are a bit threatening and not very good. You can't be popular unless you have hair removal! I think that's not really necessary.

But I want to tell you that even if you want to increase your sales with SEO, the amount of money and the results often do not match, especially in the BtoB market.

In the first place, I think Google is essentially looking to pick up information that can't be used for small-scale SEO.
A few years ago, Google removed a bunch of sites that provided poor quality health information, right? Looking at that, I think Google is doing just that, with the mission of "organizing the world's information and making it accessible and usable by people all over the world.

Meeting on the Web

-- " A good website is a tool that can be a shortcut for business communication. What is business communication?

Business communication is meeting people.

 --Is meeting important?

It's super important (laughs)! If you don't meet people and things, nothing will arise and nothing will be done. That's why I think a website has to "advocate itself.

SEO is one way to create encounters. But even if you go to the trouble of creating encounters, if the website you encounter is not an advocate of the company, it will end there.

SEO is one way to connect companies with each other, but Fubuki believes that it is necessary to create a website that reaches the right people first.
